Celebrity Cruise Line Experiences – My First Trip, Celebrity Summit: The Southern Caribbean Part 1

Ship: The Celebrity Summit
Ports of call: Departure of San Juan, St Martin, Dominica, Grenada, Tobago and Barbados (I love Barbados
)
For my husband and me it was our first trip to the Southern Caribbean with a celebrity cruise line ship, the Celebrity Summit.
It was an unbelievable and very romantic experience. Great crew, great ship, and our five star rating (5 out of 5).
We had the ocean view on deck 4. The layout of the cabins was a little bit bigger than on the other Celebrity Cruise Line ships. If you know how small such cabins can be, this is an extra thumbs up.
The room itself had a good layout and the beds were located in the middle of the cabin (that should give you an indication how big the room was). We had a coffee table, a console table and a lovely pullout seat. Even the bull’s eye scuttle was a large one with enough light pouring in.
Our celebrity cruise line director, his name was Scully (no X-files please…) and he really was an outstanding entertainer. He was the type of person you will want in that position. Always charming, entertaining and he knew everything about the ship, the cruise etc. We loved him.
All shows and games were well organized and if you like that kind of stuff you’d have found what you are looking for. For us, only the shows were appropriate but that’s OK, because we weren’t there for the games.
One thing that hasn’t turned out that good was the excursions at the destination ports. Tobago is an awful city and not worth leaving this great celebrity cruise line ship. But the weather was great, the passengers fun and the rest of the programs and offers at the ship were great (we took a great spa day with everything you could imagine…)!
The excursions were not that great at all but I think this is because the destination ports do not offer any better trips.
A tip for your trips in Dominica: You should not buy any excursion on this celebrity cruise line ship, because you can get the same at the dock much cheaper. The only thing you should take care of is that they are licensed.
One last thing to mention is that they take care of your age and match the people you’re sat with. This is great, as we’re a little worried who they will sat us with but there was nothing to worry about as we had a really nice couple who was in the thirties too.
It was a great vacation on this celebrity cruise line ship, the summit.
The ports were not that great at all. Barbados was the exception and it was worth only for that port there. Go there and you’ll see what I mean. We would recommend the summit to anyone, it was a really awesome cruise!
Cruise Line Vacations - A Luxury Experience No One Can Resist
Hi Debby, we have been on the Summit too and it really was an extraordinary cruise. Our special friend on board was one of the roommakers. His name was Pedro and he is the funniest man I have ever met. Love your site, Cheers Lisa
Holà Debby, lovely Celebrity Summit review
We’ve been on the Summit in 2007 and it was a real great expierence. I know, there are some people complaining about this and that but the whiners are everywhere. Keep up you’re great site, Greets from Mexico, Carlos
Great cruise review Debby! When do you plan to go on your next trip? Anytime soon? We are planning to go with the Celebrity Summit too, starting off in spring 2010. Merry Christmas!
Hey Lisa, great to hear you loved it too!
Greets back to Mechico
Carlos, you are absolutely right we had some of them on our trips too. But they do not bother me. Enjoy!
Hey Mr. (or Mrs.) Wonderer, if everything is going in the right direction we will be on the Constellation again in fall 2010. Happy cruise for you!
